Then, from 1930, the popular success of what became a major pilgrimage center was accompanied by the recognition of these apparitions by the Roman Catholic Church. The feast of Notre-Dame of Fatima was set by the Holy See in 2009 on the date of May 13, the anniversary of the first apparition, May 13, 1917.
